Guests consistently praise this budget-friendly motel for its clean rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly, helpful staff, particularly highlighting the owner Karen. It is generally viewed as a great value and convenient base for visiting local dining and dive spots, though guest experiences are significantly impacted by rodent infestations.
Absolutely perfect choice for a budget stay in the Keys. Beds are comfortable, water is hot, A/C works great and the rooms are clean. What else could you want. It's not a resort but a nice place to lay your head at night. Thanks for being there Deb! I will be back.
Stayed in a Blue Fin kitchenette for a week long scuba trip. Excellent value - clean room, well serviced by friendly staff. Great, quiet location near Lorelei restaurant. Small room but not cramped
I stayed in room #6. It was clean, however the bed has had enough mileage since it was purchased in 1960. Time to spend some money to replace the old girl! It sagged like the back of an old carnival pony put out to pasture.
We love the Key Lantern. Affordable, clean, close to the places we enjoy in Islamorada. Staff are friendly & kind. Some rooms have kitchens, others don't. New policy over holidays requires 2 night stay which we can understand but ended up being problematic this time. Try the Lorelai restaurant walking distance from the motel.
Our go to spot in the keys, close to dive sites, kitchen in some rooms and all the essentials we need. Older but clean and just what we need! Staff is also super nice and helpful!
Karen was amazing at checking us in and keeping us comfortable with our stay. Will definitely being staying here again!
Key Lantern is what I call an old Mom and Pop hotel. I've stayed here a few times and they're the first place I call when we're going down without the camper. The bed is comfortable and the rooms have always been clean. The location is perfect for us and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Staff, well there was an employee there and she was awesome. The man that works the front desk sometimes and the manager totally rude. So rude I would recommend staying anywhere else. Another motel, hotel, tent, vehicle or even in a local ditch would have friendlier people and the local iguanas would treat you better and be more polite. The rooms "BUGS". Outside weeds, weeds, weeds i mean for the price they charge please go buy a weedeater. Our group of 7 will NEVER return here.
To begin with, Karen on the phone was one of if not the most pleasant hospitality person I've encountered at home or abroad. First time here and I will honestly say I don't know that I have ever witnessed a room as impeccably clean from floor to ceiling, kitchen to bath wall to wall. Absolutely amazing discovery after nearly 30 years of visiting the keys annually. Much respect for Karen and her crew.
We stayed in room 5. Beware… yes it’s $90 a night but you’re also paying for the boarding of an entire generation of cockroaches. I went to the office upon discovering the family of roaches under the fridge, and was told in a snarky tone “the last people that were here never complained” (lol, I know who was there, it was a man who was fishing all day long and went to his hotel room to sleep. They probably crawled all over him, as he slept.) She then rolled her eyes because I guess, she likes cockroaches more than tourists who pay!!!
