The Marina Del Mar Resort and Marina offers a solid, dated environment with excellent dockside views and convenient access to Key Largo dining, but guests frequently report significant issues with unsanitary conditions, faulty amenities, and a stressful parking situation.
CAUTION!!! 1) Bed bugs!!! I’m still itching. My room was 210. 2) I initially paid through Booking.com but at check-in they added “service free” which doesn’t make sense. They said it’s for using their pool, Jacuzzi, Wi-Fi.. but it’s already included in your booking. I had to speak with a manager.. try they might return it. 3) facilities are old. This hotel is not worth the money. 4) no access to the beach.
This is a hotel where you clearly shouldn’t be looking for extraordinary rooms. The one we got was very old and the equipments very basic and outdated. Cleaning was done very approximatively, a lot of things were still dirty and full of dust, and the sideboard door was completely broken. The one good thing was the bed, the mattress is pretty comfy. Actually their hygiene products were really nice too. But it still doesn’t change the fact that the room is way overpriced for what you get. Ours had an inside door leading to another room, and that door was paper-thin, meaning we heard our “neighbors” arguing late at night. Just what you want to end a big day with. Make sure that you’re not paying undue resort fees, like we almost did. The establishment was advertised to us as all-fees-included. When we got there in the evening, the front desk lady still made us pay the resort fees (and wasn’t very helpful about it). Glad we double checked it overnight and addressed the issue with the morning shift. That one other lady was actually helpful and cancelled the debit to our card. Still, my rating will remain the same because it’s way too expensive for what you get.
This hotel is aging quite well. Not luxury, but very enjoyable. Lovely setting. The beds are very comfortable and service is very good and friendly. A limited breakfast with great coffee beside the marina got my day off to a good start. Close to Pennekamp and excellent restaurants. Reasonable when compared to other hotels in the area. Parking is free, but some spaces are a hike from the room.
I give this hotel 5 stars for its price point! Our room was immaculate check-in process and staff wonderful! We arrived early, the front desk asked for a phone contact and called shortly afterwards to tell us a room was ready! Some reports complained of the facility being noisy, not for our stay! The hotel is on a lovely marina, if you are here on a weekend you should expect some noise, mid week it was quiet by 9pm.
Yes its dated but its spotlessly clean and provides everything a short stay requires. Great eatery on the doorstep. No complaints. Bed was a bit squeaky
This rating is in regards to the room only, not the staff, the bar, or anything else. Definitely better places to spend the night if you want to get a good nights rest. The window blinds are unable to keep the outdoor patio lights out of the bedroom, plus every person that walks by can see what’s going on in every room. The rooms are a step down from a cheep motel-6, We would only stay here again if we had too.
We had a wonderful stay at Marina Del Mar resorts the week after Christmas. It’s about an hour from Miami airport. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which fit our family of five very well. The room was basic, functional but clean and had great views. Perfect for our needs. The location was great as we were diving at Rainbow Reef which was just a quick walk around the canal. The staff was friendly, the nearby restaurants were a lot of fun. We enjoyed the live music we could hear on some nights from our deck which was fine for us. We used the pools at the holiday inn more often but it was nice to have a pool on site as well. Having onsite laundry was nice and meant we didn’t have to pack as much. The walk around the canal was half the fun as we often saw pelicans, iguanas, a manatee, nurse sharks and plenty of fish and birds. If we had more time we probably would have done a cruise on one of the fishing boats docked there or the original African Queen boat which often sailed past. We were also able to walk to stores including the Divers Direct store next door. We were sad to leave and would stay again in the same room.
?I cannot recommend staying at this property. What appears to be an old apartment complex converted into a hotel falls short of basic hospitality standards. ?Parking: A total nightmare. There are no markings on the ground, leading to guests parking haphazardly and wasting space. It’s extremely limited and stressful to navigate. ?The Room: The layout is highly congested. The bathroom and shower area are so cramped they are difficult to use. Paradoxically, the main room is cluttered with unnecessary, bulky furniture (including senior assistance chairs in the bathroom) that makes the space feel smaller. ?Condition: Many items were broken, including the door latches and locks. Worse, there are no internal safety deadbolts, which made us feel insecure. My friend’s room had no hot water, and the water pressure was a mere trickle. ?Atmosphere: While it has a full kitchen like an Airbnb, the "negative vibes" and lack of maintenance made it feel unwelcoming. For the price, you can find much better, safer, and more professional accommodations in Key Largo.
The parking is a bit ridiculous but could always find a spot in the end. The location is great for the Largo Key area as there isn't actually much to do on that island. The room was pretty much a small apartment like suite. While it felt dated I did like the charm of the place and they are actively remodeling. The service was great they checked in with me through text and if I had questions about the area they gladly helped me!
Fairly clean, wonderful location. The restaurant and bars next door have live rock music, not to loud. Keep in mind, hotel parking might be an issue if you get there late.
