Guests find this resort a mix of incredible hospitality and significant maintenance issues; while the helpful staff and shuttle service are praised, many reviews criticize the dated facilities, frequent maintenance errors like door locks breaking, and poor cleanliness standards.
What a great hotel experience! We can down for a wedding and this was the only reasonably affordable place, but was so worth it. The pool area is large and provides a relaxing environment with an outdoor bar as well. The staff was also incredibly helpful. They have a shuttle that runs to the airport and to downtown and back every hour so you don’t have to use uber to get around. They also were able to take us down the road to the wedding ceremony since the airport shuttle was available when we asked, so don’t be afraid to ask them for assistance. We stayed here for almost half the cost of anywhere else and other guests of this wedding told us they liked our place more than where they stayed for near double the price with almost tge same accommodations. Will definitely stay here when we come back to the area.
We had a wonderful experience working with the marketing team at Key West DoubleTree who arranged our room block and wedding reception brunch at Gumbo Limbo. They were incredibly responsive, organized, and helpful throughout the entire process, always quick to answer questions and make adjustments when needed!! The brunch felt more like a simple continental breakfast than I had anticipated (especially for the price), and after about an hour, many of our guests were seated in direct sunlight, which made it uncomfortable. As a result, we ended up wrapping up earlier than planned. Because of that experience, I’m not sure I would choose to book the space again. That said, I would absolutely recommend the hotel for its excellent location and value. Our guests were very happy with their stay, and the marketing team was fantastic to work with throughout the process.
Five stars all around! Beautiful accommodations, pool, fitness center. Joseph at the front desk really made my night after a long day of delays at EYW airport! Joseph was enthusiastic happy and has a great attitude, super helpful with everything I was looking for - extra toothbrush, toothpaste. The shuttle came quickly to pick me up at airport, very friendly on phone. Highly recommend!
We host our yearly kick-off event here, and Angelyn, Victoria, and the entire group sales team are always incredible to work with. Angelyn and Victoria go above and beyond to make sure every detail is handled, and they make the entire planning process seamless and enjoyable. Tyrone, who takes care of us the day of the event, is equally amazing. He is attentive, professional, and always makes sure everything runs perfectly. It gives us so much confidence knowing we can count on all of them year after year. The remodel is also 5 stars. We truly appreciate this wonderful team and everything they do to make our event such a success. Highly recommend!
Great place to stay, we did not get breakfast option to keep it simple and budget friendly. Pool was decent with a hot bath pool on other side. Rooms were clean, modern, and maintained. Kids had fun. Shuttle service was great and very frequent (added shuttle schedule). But it fills fast and they add extra shuttles depending on volume. Complimentary coffee was available in lobby till noonish. They did host a complimentary meet and greet with Santa plus fresh cookies and hot cocoa.??? Not a walking distance to village, so get the shuttle ? Staff were awesome and responsive. Internet was a bummer though. 5G barely worked, and wifi was weak.
Stayed from 12/18-12/22. I don’t usually review places but this one deserves 5 stars. We arrived way before check in time on 12/18, the front desk did their absolute best to get us a room asap, and we were in a room 2 hours earlier then check in time. They also held our bags in a secure location until we were able to get to our room. Concierge service has been great, they answered all of our small questions about walking abilities and other things. The tiki bar and pool service is amazing, everyone was very helpful and quick with drinks and food. We have had such an amazing time and will be recommending this hotel to others!!
Great place to stay. Check in was a breeze and very courteous, thet allwed us to check in a little early than the usual time. Hallways are cleaned, lobby clean. Very nice pool and poolside bar. We had the king bed suit, room was clean and spacious. The only thing, the bath tub is very small compared to larger tubs. Theres a shuttle that runs from the hotel to downtown Key West and the front desk will give you a schedule. I think you'll really like this one, and in the morning, walk down Jimmy Buffet Mem. Hwy and enjoy the sunrise.
We recently hosted a group event at DoubleTree and were extremely impressed with the entire experience. From the initial inquiry to the final check-out, the process was seamless. The coordination of our group block was handled exceptionally well by the Victoria, Dianne and Angie. We especially want to thank the team for their prompt communication and flexibility in managing all the room details for our guests. The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and accommodating to everyone in our group. We highly recommend The DoubleTree to anyone planning a group stay or event. We are currently staying at this location now. It’s been one night so far and I’m actually very disappointed. Our room had an odd smell that was a little like old water standing for some time upon arrival. The AC sounded off and finacky all night, making sounds that kept us up. The TV had static on channels I was trying to use. They no longer give drink vouchers to guests. The promised beach towels at smathers are not included with your stay. The pool/hot tub area is quite run down. And staff has not been the friendliest when it came to addressing any issues I had or even cracking a smile/saying hello throughout the day. Truly - not one worker has said hello to my husband nor I our whole stay other than at check in. Only redeeming quality of this place are the shuttle drivers. Going on a mental health vacation trying to just enjoy hasn’t been what I expected. Just disappointing from a Hilton hotel. We’ve been Hilton users for 15+ years and even used them for our wedding. I just expected more. As someone who loves to travel and has stayed in my fair share of places, I would suggest passing on this one.
Underwhelming Stay – Not Worth the Price Pros: The cookies at check-in were delicious. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing. They have a pool and a bar. Dog-friendly for a one-time $75 fee. Cons: The amenities were disappointing. The pool looked much bigger in the pictures but was actually small and somewhat dirty, with empty drink cups left around. The bar was just okay, but the menu was misleading. The lychee martini was listed as $00.00 on the menu, which was obviously a typo, but after ordering and asking for the actual price, it turned out to be $22—about $4 more than the second most expensive drink. It felt misleading and shady. The entire place looked dated and poorly maintained. While surface areas in the room were clean, the walls and floors were not. Our room was on the first floor directly across from the bar, so we couldn’t open the curtains without losing privacy (plus, our dog would bark). On our first night, we were locked out of our room from 10:00 PM to 11:30 PM due to an update with the door locks. The front desk attendant was rude and never even apologized. Bottom line: For the price, I’d stay somewhere else. It felt more like an overpriced 2-star hotel.
